Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) Director of Public Relations Quincy Parker yesterday said an additional five megawatts of rental generation is due on New Providence next month to replace the units that were sent to Bimini.

Originally, BPL had ordered 25 megawatts of rental generation from Aggreko for New Providence.

However, after a fire on Bimini caused significant damage at the power plant there, the company decided to send five megawatts of the rental generation to Bimini.

“The five that we sent to Bimini will be replaced here in New Providence, but that is due in town next month,” he said.
