The company is called Master’s Marine Shipyard. It is the newest business to become operational on over four thousand acres of land leased from the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation on the former Hatchet Bay Plantation shipyard in Hatchet Bay Harbour, Alice Town, Eleuthera.

Master’s Marine Shipyard is a subsidiary of Triple A Marine Limited, owned and operated by Bahamians from Spanish Wells, North Eleuthera. The shipyard opened for business in January of 2019. The facility is a state-of-the-art ship building, marine repair and dry-docking operation.

As there are just a few facilities of this nature in the country, Master’s Marine has made a commitment to provide quality service, competitive prices and top of the line workmanship, to ensure repeat customers.

 According to President of the company Mr. Stefan Newbold, “the shipyard operation is going good since its opening.” Mr. Newbold said they are waiting for a few mail boats to come in for service and already they are looking to expand. 

The shipyard is catering to both national and international flagged ships and yachts, offering services in areas such as ship repair, maintenance, fabrication, steel work, bottom repairs and cleaning, prop pulling, wrecks and salvages. These services are specifically targeted at boat owners and operators in Long Island and the surrounding cays of Eleuthera including Spanish Wells.

Other services offered by Master’s Marine include hydro blasting, painting, dry docking, welding and fabrication and marine electrical. The company is seeking to position itself as a hurricane warehouse storage facility for boats during the passage of storms and hurricanes.. Mr. Newbold believes that this service will be of tremendous benefit to the boating community.

Additionally, Mr. Newbold and his team at Master’s Marine are making efforts to ensure that high school and college students on Eleuthera are afforded the opportunity to engage in cross-training in the shipyard’s operation. They want to ensure that the tradition of boat building and repairs continue  in the Bahamas.
