NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Minister of National Security the Hon. Marvin Dames addressed, on June 14, 2019, a reception, aboard the USS Stout (DDG 55), at Prince George Wharf, in Nassau, The Bahamas. U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires Stephanie Bowers and U.S. Fleet Forces Command commander (Four-Star) Admiral Christopher Grady, and Mrs. Grady co-hosted the event. Among the senior Bahamas and US Government officials and uniformed branch members in attendance were Acting Permanent Secretary Eugene Poitier and Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Commodore Tellis Bethel.
According to the US Embassy, Admiral Grady was in The Bahamas for a visit to engage in bilateral meetings to reinforce the importance of the strategic partnership between the U.S. and The Bahamas and the two countries’ longstanding commitment toward mutual security, promoting trade and cultural exchange. Along with a number of courtesy calls, Admiral Grady also visited the RBDF Headquarters at Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship Coral Harbour Base, and the Navy’s Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, the Embassy added.
