Veteran politician C.A. Smith will take office as the next governor general of The Bahamas on June 28, the Cabinet Office announced yesterday.

Dame Marguerite Pindling will demit office on the same day.

Dame Marguerite, widow of former Prime Minister Sir Lynden Pindling, has served as governor general since July 2014.
