A Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect for Bimini, Andros, Grand Bahama and Abaco

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FROM 4:00 PM EST UNTIL 6:00 PM SUNDAY 16TH JUNE 2016.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR BIMINI,  ANDROS, GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, AND THE BERRY ISLANDS.

AT 3:50 PM OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOW CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVING TOWARD AND ACROSS THE  AFOREMENTIONED AREAS.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTENING CONDUCTORS
