Televison Programme Outlines Outlook for Hurricane Season 2019

A near-normal hurricane season is expected in 2019, but in A Familiar Walk’s Hurricane Preparedness 2019 television program airing Monday June 3rd at 8:35 p.m. on ZNS, Meteorologist Wayne Neely reminds Bahamians that it only takes one major hurricane to cause serious damage to the country’s archipelago.

In the program, Mr. Neely that in the past, when The Bahamas experienced a near normal hurricane season, the islands were still greatly affected.

The show includes host Mario Newry, Ms. Caroline Turnquest, Director General of the Bahamas Red Cross, Captain Stephen Russell, Director of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Wayne Nelly, Meteorologist and world-renowned Author, and Executives of J.S. Johnson Insurance Agents and Brokers Mr. Charles Johnson and Mr. Robert Bartlett on the latest A Familiar Walk.

“As we begin another Atlantic Hurricane Season, A Familiar Walk is encouraging viewers and listeners to tune in and to remember the importance of being a weather-ready Bahamas,” Newry said.

During the show, Captain Russell focuses on how each community throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas could be made more resilient. He gives a detailed approach from the Agency’s perspective on educating each sector of society of the importance of Hurricane Preparedness.

The programme begins, though, with a special congratulatory segment with J.S. Johnson Insurance Agents and Brokers Team as they continued the celebration of their 100th Anniversary. J.S. Johnson Insurance Agents and Brokers are the Signature Sponsor of The Hurricane Preparedness Show, and Mr. Johnson speaks to the importance of the insurance industry and the company’s continued impact before, during and after the hurricane season.

“This year’s programme focused on residents being more resilient, as well as those important mitigating factors this hurricane season,” Newry said.

In the programme, Ms. Turnquest indicates that The Bahamas Red Cross is ready for this Hurricane Season, and she thanked all the generous donors, volunteers, and supporters of the Bahamas Red Cross.

A Familiar Walk’s 2019 Hurricane Preparedness segment will be aired throughout the hurricane season.
