Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis attended Mother’s Day church service at the St. Athanasius Anglican Church in Deadman’s Cay, Long Island, on Sunday 12 May.

Prime Minister Minnis told residents that to mark Mother’s Day this year he wanted to do something different to show his appreciation for mothers across The Bahamas.

“I wanted to pay special tribute to the mothers of Long Island and the Family Islands across The Bahamas,” said the Prime Minister.

“As I travel through the Family Islands I am constantly reminded that The Bahamas is not just Nassau, and I tell people that whenever I get the chance.”

Prime Minister Minnis thanked Long Islanders for their island’s contribution to national development, making special mention of the successful businessmen and women, two former Governors General, great boat builders and educators who have hailed from Long Island.

“Today let’s take the time to say thank you to all the mothers of our nation and to make sure we show them the gratitude, appreciation and respect they deserve,” Prime Minister said in his address to the congregation.
