Spouse of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Patricia Minnis accompanied students of Gambier Primary on a field trip to Ardastra Gardens, on Tuesday, to learn about indigenous plants and animals of The Bahamas, and to become aware of those species that are endangered.

Mrs. Minnis has a special relationship with Gambier Primary that started seven years ago. She said, “Those students that are now in the sixth grade, I would have known them since they were in the first grade.” She noted that whenever the school is having a function, she is invited and attends if free of engagements. She also works with partners to help the school acquire anything that it needs.

Enjoying time with the students, Mrs. Minnis explained that she hoped the children would get to appreciate the different trees and plants that are in the garden and experience the benefits of such greenery. She added, the children would also appreciate that we need all of the animals that they see, as all animals play a part in the ecosystem.

The eco-trip for the students was sponsored by Sandals Royal Bahamian resort through its Foundation.
