Organizers, sponsors, and patrons unveiled all the details for the 33rd Annual Rotary Club of East Nassau and Scout Association of The Bahamas Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Monday the 6th of May.
Over 100 golfers are expected to play in the annual event, noted for being one of the biggest charitable tournaments on the island and looking to raise over $140,000 for local charities.
During a press conference held at the Ocean Club Golf Club House, Robert Leming, the Golf Club’s General manager noted that the tournament tees off at 12:30pm with a two-ball scramble.
“We give thanks to the hard-working folks at the Rotary Club of East Nassau,” said Leming. “With over 7,000 employees in our company, at some point their lives have been touched by the charities Rotary supports. It’s a pleasure to host the tournament again.”
According to Tournament organizers Philip Andrews and Ryan Treco, one hundred percent of the funds raised will go to local charities.
Some of the beneficiaries include the Scout Association, 14 Clubs, Project Read, and The Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled, amongst others.
“Over the past 33 years, we have been able to net over $3 million in donations and sponsorships,” explained 2nd Vice President, Rotary Club of East Nassau, Adrian White. “These donations have gone straight to the community.”
Organizers of the tournament were also pleased to announce that Stella Artois, will join them as their title sponsor.
“Stella Artois, an international beer brand, began their efforts in 2015 to give back to local communities where Stella is distributed” said Brand Manager of Anheuser Bush at Bahamian Brewery and Beverage Co., Keiani Worrell.
“Since that time they have made efforts to partner with various non-profits organizations and have raised over $15 million dollars to date.
When we heard about the 33rd Golf Tournament and the charities they support, we knew that this would be a perfect opportunity for us to give back and make an impact here in The Bahamas.”
Former President of the East Club, Geoff Andrews, who served as MC for the press event, noted that five years ago they joined forces to host this with the Scouting Association of The Bahamas, as they were having competing tournaments, which was not working.
Speaking for the Scouts was National Training Commissioner, Joseph Pickering. “Our mission continues to be the education of young Bahamians through a value-based system,” said Pickering.
“We strive to develop young leaders by trying to make each individual self-reliant, which seems in line with Rotary standards.”
The annual golf tournament which brings together some of the most well-known veteran golfers, as well as young enthusiasts is also well-known for its great prizes and great fun.

He noted that players do not have to be Rotarians or good golfers to come out and enjoy this great day of comradery and fundraising for The Bahamas.
