On Valentine’s Day, the residents and staff at the Persis Rodgers Home For The Aged felt the love during a special luncheon hosted by AML Foods Limited. Earlier in the year, the company set a goal of participating in more community outreach projects as a team. The organization reached out to the home’s administrator and set plans in motion to host the event.

The Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged, located on Hawthorne Road in Chippingham is home to approximately 25 residents requiring 24-hour care. Operations depend largely on government assistance, donations from the general public as well as corporate Bahamas.

Once approval was given to host the luncheon, AML’s team began preparations for a fun-filled day of singing, dancing, fellowship and food. The Valentine’s Day luncheon also gave a group of 20 persons from across the company’s brands a chance to volunteer and interact with the residents and the hardworking staff at the home.

“Valentine’s Day is a holiday set aside to recognize love of all types and we wanted to take the time to support a group that is often not thought of during this season, as well as recognize and support the efforts of the workers who are caring for them. They deserve our time, attention and our love”, said Renea Bastian, Vice President of Marketing & Communications at AML Foods Limited

“It was also a great opportunity for our staff to volunteer their time and to connect with the community in a real way. As a company, we believe that there is value in supporting the causes that are important to our team members. Each year we allow our staff up to eight paid hours to volunteer at a cause of their choice. Based on the feedback from those who participated in the Valentine’s Day luncheon, our team members were happy to be making a difference.”

Home President Mrs. Frances LeDee thanked the team at AML for taking the time out to visit the home and for showing love and support to the residents on Valentine’s Day. She also extended an invitation for the group to return at any time.
