Seven Day Forecast for The Bahamas-January 7-13, 2019

General Situation: A cold front in the vicinity of the SE Bahamas will produce pockets of unsettled weather in the area while a high pressure ridge builds southward in its wake. On Tuesday the cold front over the SE Bahamas will move eastward, become stationary and gradually weaken before dissipating on Wednesday. Another cold front will move into the NW Bahamas by late Wednesday or early Thursday and continue south-eastward through the Central and SE Bahamas by late Thursday. The front will stall and become stationary near Inagua and Haiti area before dissipating on Friday. High pressure ridge will build across the Bahamas through the weekend.

Monday 07th – Partly to mostly sunny, a bit breezy and warm with the chance of few passing showers mainly in the Central and SE Bahamas. Mostly fair and mild at night. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Small craft should exercise caution at times in the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas but gusty at times and ENE to ESE at 12 to 18 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, increasing to 25 to 20 knots at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the NW Bahamas and 3 to 5 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, building to 4 to 6 feet at times.

Tuesday 08th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with few scattered showers and a possible isolated thunderstorm mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots and ENE to ESE at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, becoming gusty at times over all areas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, building higher in gusts for all areas.

Wednesday 09th – Variably cloudy, a bit breezy and warm with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms along and ahead of the front through night time. Maximum temperature 86°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution across parts of the NW Bahamas late. Winds variable at 10 knots or less ahead of the front in the NW and Central Bahamas, turning NW to N at 15 to 20 knots late and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahama, falling light and variable at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, and 2 to 4 feet in the SE Bahamas falling to 1 to 3 feet at times.

Thursday 10th – Partly cloudy, breezy at times and mild with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 74°F and minimum temperature 65°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution in the NW and Central Bahamas. Winds NNW to NNE at 15 to 20 knots across the NW and Central Bahamas, decreasing to 12 to 18 knots at times and light and variable in the SE Bahamas early but turning N’ly at 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 3 to 5 feet at times and 1 to 3 feet in the SE Bahamas early, but building to 2 to 4 feet later.

Friday 11th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the SE Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 76°F and minimum temperature 67°F. Small craft operators should exercise caution in the NW and SE Bahamas early but a caution continues over all areas by night. Winds NE to E at 15 to 20 knots in the NW and SE Bahamas and NE’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas early, increasing to 15 to 20 knots later. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the Nw and SE Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet in the SE Bahamas building to 4 to 6 feet later.

Saturday 12th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the Central and SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 78°F and minimum temperature 71°F. Small craft should exercise caution over all areas. Winds E to SE at 15 to 20 knots over all areas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet overall areas but falling to 2 to 4 feet at times.

Sunday 13th – Variably cloudy and warm with widely scattered showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 79°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Winds S to SW at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas veering W to NW at 10 to 15 knots after frontal passage and SE to S at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, veering W to NW at 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet across over the entire Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should exercise caution due to rough surf and the moderate risk of rip currents along eastern shorelines during stated advisories.
