Seven Day Forecast for The Bahamas from January 3-9, 2018

General Situation: Broad high pressure ridge across the area will slide southward and weaken ahead of an approaching cold front across the Southern United States. The cold front will move through the Extreme NW Bahamas early Saturday and it will become stationary across the Central Bahamas through early Sunday. By Monday the front will shift across the SE Bahamas before gradually dissipating across the area. Another cold front will enter the area and move through the NW Bahamas early Wednesday.

Thursday 03rd – Partly sunny, breezy and warm with some passing showers mainly across the NW Bahamas, turning partly cloudy to fair at night with the chance of showers mainly in the Central and SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the Central Bahamas and an advisory in the SE Bahamas will become a caution later. Winds SE’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas; E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the Central Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 25 knots in the SE Bahamas, decreasing to 15 to 20 knots later. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas and 5 to 8 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Friday 04th – Partly cloudy to cloudy, breezy and warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas, turning partly cloudy and warm at night with few scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm mainly across the Central Bahamas. Maximum temperature 87°F and minimum temperature 72°F. Small craft operators should exercise caution in the SE Bahamas early. Winds SSE to SSW at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas; SE’ly at 10 to 15 knots, falling light and variable at times in the Central Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots by afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the NW and Central Bahamas and 4 to 7 feet over the SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet later.

Saturday 05th – Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas along and ahead of frontal boundary through nightfall, but partly cloudy and warm with few scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm in the SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 78°F and minimum temperature 69°F. Winds S to SW at 10 to 15 knots veering W to NW at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and SSE to SSW at 10 to 15 knots veering W to NW at 10 knots or less in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet across all areas, falling to 1 to 3 feet at times in the SE Bahamas.

Sunday 06th – Variably cloudy and mild with few scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms in the Central Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 76°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Winds NW to N at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas veering N to NE at 10 to 15 knots late, and NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet across over the entire Bahamas.

Monday 07th
– Partly cloudy and mild with lingering scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the Central and SE Bahamas early, shifting toward the NW Bahamas late. Maximum temperature 78°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution for all areas except the Extreme NW Bahamas. Winds NE’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Extreme NW Bahamas and NE to E at 15 to 20 knots, becoming gusty at times across the remainder of the Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the Extreme NW Bahamas and 4 to 7 feet in the remainder of the Bahamas.

Tuesday 08th – Variably cloudy and warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and SE Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 78°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the SE Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots, gusting to near 20 knots early in the NW and Central Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas, becoming gusty at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas, building higher in gusts for all areas.

Wednesday 09th – Partly cloudy and warm with few scattered showers in the NW Bahamas during the daytime, turning partly cloudy and mild at night with lingering showers over the Bahamas at night. Maximum temperature 77°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Small craft should exercise caution across parts of the NW Bahamas. Winds NE’ly at 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots at times in the NW Bahamas; NE to E at 10 knots or less in the Central Bahamas and NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas, building to over some areas at times and 2 to 4 feet across the Central and SE Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should exercise caution due to rough surf and the moderate risk of rip currents along eastern shorelines during stated advisories.
