Seven Day Forecast for The Bahamas from December 24-30, 2018

General Situation: A stationary front across the SE Bahamas will weaken and drift north-westward to the Central Bahamas through Tuesday. Meanwhile, a building high pressure ridge over the eastern United States and the western Atlantic waters will keep brisk winds over the area from Wednesday through most of the weekend. Moisture associated with a weak frontal boundary over South Florida on Wednesday will eventually move southward across the Bahamas Thursday before gradually dissipating by Saturday morning.

Monday 24th – Variably cloudy, a bit breezy and warm with few scattered showers or a possible thunderstorm mainly across the Central and SE Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 81°F and minimum temperature 66°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and NE to E at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 25th
– Variable cloudiness, warm and breezy with few scattered showers or a possible thunderstorm mainly in the Central and SE Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 15 to 20 knots and gusty at times across the entire Bahamas, but likely more 12 to 18 knots across the Extreme NW Bahamas at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet over the entire Bahamas but higher in gusts and falling to 3 to 5 feet in the Extreme NW Bahamas at times.

Wednesday 26th – Partly to mostly cloudy, breezy and warm with some scattered showers or a possible thunderstorm mainly in the Central and SE Bahamas early. Maximum temperature 81°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the NW Bahamas and an advisory is in effect across the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 15 to 20 knots across the NW Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 25 knots across the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW Bahamas and 5 to 8 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Thursday 27th – Partly cloudy, windy and warm with few scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and SE Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 81°F and minimum temperature 71°F. Small craft advisory is in effect for the entire Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 20 to 25 knots across the entire Bahamas, but gusty at times. Seas 6 to 9 feet over the ocean but higher in gusts and moderate to large E’ly swells.

Friday 28th – Partly cloudy, windy and warm with the chance of a few passing showers across the Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 73°F. Small craft advisory remains in effect for all areas early but falls to caution by early afternoon in the NW Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 20 to 25 knots in the NW Bahamas early, falling to 15 to 20 knots by afternoon and E to SE at 20 to 25 knots across the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 6 to 9 feet over the NW Bahamas but falling to 4 to 6 feet later and 6 to 9 feet across the Central and SE Bahamas becoming higher in moderate to large E’ly swells over all areas.

Saturday 29th – Partly sunny, breezy and warm with the chance of one or two passing showers mainly across the NW Bahamas, turning partly cloudy to fair at night with lingering showers across the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 73°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the NW and Central Bahamas and an advisory continues for the SE Bahamas. Winds SE’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas by afternoon and E’ly at 20 to 25 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet over the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas later and 6 to 9 feet in the SE Bahamas, becoming higher across all areas in moderate E’ly to SE’ly swells.

Sunday 30th – Partly sunny and warm with few scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and SE Bahamas. Partly cloudy to fair at night with few lingering showers. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 73°F. Small craft should exercise caution early in the SE Bahamas. Winds SE’ly at 10 knots or less in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times; E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots early in the SE Bahamas, falling to 10 to 15 knots later. Seas 1 to 3 feet over the ocean in the NW Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet in the Central Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet later. Moderate to light E’ly to SE’ly swells will increase seas over the ocean for all areas.

Beachgoers and mariners should exercise caution due to rough surf and the high risk of rip currents along the northern and eastern shorelines during stated advisories.
