Scores of Bahamians were tuned into their radios this week as leading nutritionist and herbalist, Jamal Moncur, offered a sneak peek into the valuable and life-changing information, he and his New Life sponsored event will give those looking to prevent cancer and more.

Moncur, alongside his wife – the creative culinary mind behind New Life’s innovative vegan menu options - began making the radio rounds to promote their message of healthy eating this week, ahead of the Saturday, October 27th event at Pelican Bay.

Appearances began on the popular Guardian Radio program ‘The Revolution’ with host Juan McCartney, where listeners fully engaged the herbalist on the basics of healthy food choices, and how to prevent diseases through diet.

The appearance was also a key opportunity for the Moncur’s to answer a range of questions on issues such as regulating weight, addressing food sensitivities, and even the impact of certain foods on the development of commonly known diseases including cancer.

“There are so many foods which we think are healthy for us but in reality are genetically modified hybrids that put a strain on the body” explained Moncur. “This seminar is really about educating people on what to eat to help preserve their lives”.

The Moncur’s media tour continued with a visit to Love 97, where Moncur again engrossed listeners in a lively discussion on the need to incorporate healthy eating habits into their disease management or prevention strategies.

“I’m glad we are having this conversation” commented one caller, “there are really too many Bahamians dying from things like Cancer, so this kind of education is definitely needed.”

At this week’s highly anticipated event, the New Life family along with Cancer specialist Dr. Kevin Bethel, owner and operator of the Family Wellness Centre in Freeport, will be teaching a message of change – both diet and exercise.

Dr. Bethel will share a wealth of knowledge on fighting cancer through natural and preventative measures and discussing new innovations in cancer medical research.

The one-day seminar will start at 9 am and will feature vegan food training, herbal recipes from the culinary vegan expert Shoniquer Moncur, making vegan cooking enjoyable. “I’ve been asked for years about my reciepies,” she noted.

“Its time to share them and help others make a difference in their diets and we hope help prevent disease coming into our fellow islanders lives.”

Tickets are on sale now for the event at New Life locations and are less expensive if purchased in advance for $75. To learn more visit the New Life Facebook page or the ‘Prevention is the Path to Cure’ event page on social media.
