Custom Computers & Alpha Phi Alpha Honour Top Male Student of The Year

Beating out scores of outstanding young males from across the country, Selathial Williams, Head Boy of the NGM Major High School in Long Island was recently declared the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s Top Male High School Student of the Year during a special awards ceremony held at Government House on April 25th, 2010.

In attendance were members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity along with the Minister of Education, the Honourable Desmond Bannister, special guest speaker, Mr. Algernon Cargill, Director of the National Insurance Board, and Mrs. Tammie Hall-Thompson, Custom Computers Hewlett Packard Line Manager.

Young Williams was presented with a brand new 17-inch HP Notebook computer courtesy of Custom Computers.  Williams, who is college bound, will use his new computer to assist him with his studies at a college of his choice.

Mrs. Pia Farmer, Co-Owner and Marketing Director at Custom Computers said, “In an ongoing effort to reward excellence in education, the Custom Computers Know How Team was pleased to partner once again with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity to recognize the Top Male High School Student of the Year. As usual we are most delighted to recognize exceptional students in the country who excel in education.”

Mrs. Hall-Thompson said, “This was our third year assisting and working along with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. It’s just wonderful to see so many talented and gifted graduating young men from all over the country come together and participate in the awards ceremony which recognizes the top outstanding male students who excel in the area of education,” she beamed.

The awards ceremony was the culmination of a week of exciting activities including a church service and a series of one-on-one mentoring sessions led by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity designed specifically to both recognize and assist the young men in their academic and personal lives.

For the past three years Custom Computers Know How Team has recognized and rewarded scores of outstanding students through its ‘A’s For Excellence Campaign.’ This year marks the third year in which primary and high school students who have earned at least an ‘A’ grade or more on their final report card, are being invited to take their report card to any of the Custom Computers Know How Store locations on Cable Beach and East Bay Street to complete an entry form for an opportunity to win a brand new laptop computer. Students must be accompanied by a parent and may enter once for every ‘A’ grade.  The deadline to enter is August 14th, 2010.
