Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) held its fourth Swing for Scholarships golf event on Friday 14 September 2018 and successfully raised over $20,000 to benefit the school’s Scholarship Fund.
Golf enthusiasts took part in a four-person team scramble at the Lyford Cay Club Golf Course. Because of the generosity of Master Sponsor CornèrTrader (www.cornertrader.com), 100% of the team sponsor proceeds will directly support the Scholarship Fund that helps many Bahamian students attend LCIS.
The event took place just one day after CornèrTrader, celebrated a major milestone in local financial services history with the unveiling of it’s platform allowing Bahamians to enjoy direct access to buying and selling shares on the global financial markets, including the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.
The winning team of Marc Hewison, Chris Wright, Nic Ratcliff and Trevor Torzsas representing Woslee Construction, were awarded the coveted crystal trophy, LCIS logoed products, as well as bottles of Veuve Clicquot to celebrate and will enjoy rounds of golf courtesy of the Lyford Cay Club, Ocean Club Golf Course, Albany and Royal Blue at Baha Mar. The second place team was Mike Klonaris, Simon Townend, Miles Evans and Nicolas Mosko, representing Klonaris & Co.

Over the past ten years, LCIS has been able to invest over $2,200,000 in the programme and those who have graduated have gone on to earn over $6.8M in financial aid and scholarships from colleges and universities around the world.
The LCIS Scholarship Fund supports need-based tuition assistance for Bahamian students, as well as awards for students with outstanding ability in a variety of areas including Academics, Technology, Sports, Arts, Music and more.
This programme reflects the school's commitment to diversity and to providing an international education to Bahamian students.
Senior and scholarship recipient Christal Adderley, spoke to participants at the awards ceremony, “My academic journey has been one full of challenges and obstacles.
I came to LCIS from Eleuthera to better my opportunities and having been separated from my parents, my triplet brother and sister the task of relocating from Eleuthera to Nassau wasn't always easy.
But all of my personal challenges were overcome through the community and support that the students and faculty provided at LCIS.
I would like to personally thank you for your support of the scholarship programme that has impacted a wide range of students and acknowledge that at the end of the day LCIS is more than just a high school it is also a space in which everlasting bonds and everlasting learning is created.”

LCIS is taking applications for admissions. The deadline for submission is 15 December. LCIS will host an information session for families interested in applying at the Melia Nassau Beach on 7 November at 6pm.
The school will also host an admissions open house on Tuesday 20 November at 2pm on its campus. Bahamian students interested in applying and their families are invited to attend these events.
