Seven Day Forecast for The Bahamas September 24-30, 2018

General Situation: A surface trough will gradually weaken across the NW Bahamas as it is pulled northward by a surface low pressure northeast of the area. A broad high pressure ridge will build across the Bahamas through the end of the weekend, while east to southeast winds will increase moderate to strong breezes across the Central and SE Bahamas.

Monday 24th – Partly sunny, hot and humid with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night with the chance of an isolated shower or two. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 78°F. Winds ENE to ESE at 10 to 15 knots across the entire Bahamas, falling light and variable. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the ocean but up to 5 feet in slight NE’ly swells mainly across the SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 25th – Partly to mostly sunny, hot, and humid with few isolated showers or thunderstorms during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night with an isolated shower or two likely. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E’lyat 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the ocean for NW and CEntral Bahamas, falling to 1 to 3 feet at times and 4 to 6 feet for the SE Bahamas.

Wednesday 26th – Partly cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, some heavy at times during the daytime.Partly cloudy and warm at night with chance of few showers or a possible isolated thunderstorm. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Small craft should exercise caution across parts of the Central and the SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots across the NW Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots but gusty at times across parts of the Central and the SE Bahamas. Ses 2 to 4 feet over the NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in part of the Central and the SE Bahamas, gusty at times across the SE Bahamas.

Thursday 27th – Partly to mostly cloudy, humid and hot with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW Bahamas during the daytime. Cloudy patches to fair skies and warm at night with few scattered showers lingering. Maximum temperature 90°F and minimum temperature 77°F. Small craft should exercise caution over parts of the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds ENE to ESE at 10 to 15 knots across the NW Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 10 to 15 knots at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet at times.

Friday 28th – Partly cloudy, hot and steamy with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms early across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm at night with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms likely across the Central and SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 90°F and minimum temperature 77°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the Central and SE Bahamas early. Winds E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots across the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 10 to 15 knots at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet across NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet over the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet at times.

Saturday 29th – Partly to mostly sunny, hot and humid with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night with few lingering scattered showers or a possible thunderstorm. Maximum temperature 90°F and minimum temperature 75°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 15 to 20 knots over all areas of the Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet across the entire Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet at times. Light to moderate NE’ly swells mainly over the Central and SE Bahamas.

Sunday 30th – Mostly sunny, hot and humid across the NW Bahamas with few scattered showers or a possible isolated thunderstorm during the daytime, fair and warm at night. Partly to mostly cloudy and warm at night with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through nightfall. Small craft should continue to exercise caution across the entire Bahamas. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Winds E’ly at 15 to 20 knots, but gusty at times across the entire Bahamas and seas 4 to 6 feet over all areas, but higher in gusts. Moderate to large NE’ly swells expected mainly over the Central and SE Bahamas.

Beachgoers and Mariners should exercise extreme caution due to the risk of large swells and dangerous rip currents along the eastern shorelines for the entire forecast period. Boaters and Beachgoers should be alert for possible waterspout activity and take all necessary precautions to protect life and property. Residents should be alert for the risk of localized flooding during heavy downpours and prolonged rainfall events. Residents and Beachgoers should keep hydrated and avoid outdoors or protect themselves during the hottest parts of the day as these periods are when high heat indices occur during the summer time.
