News Item on Hurricane Florence issued by The Bahamas Department of Meteorology Forecast Office Section, at 6:00 AM FRIDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2018.

…FLORENCE WEAKENS A LITTLE MORE BUT STILL EXPECTED TO RESTRENGTHEN OVER THE WEEKEND. AT 5:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE FLORENCE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 25.1°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 50.7° WEST OR ABOUT 925 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS OR 1590 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA.

FLORENCE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST AT 7 MPH. A TURN TOWARD THE WEST NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 65 MILES PER HOUR (MPH) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. FLORENCE IS FORECAST TO RESTRENGHTEN AND BECOME A HURRICANE AGAIN OVER THE WEEKEND.
