The Ministry of Public Works continued road paving at Collins Avenue and Sixth Terrace, Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Workmen from Bahamix were busy today rolling out a new layer of asphalt on the intersection.

The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Desmond Bannister announced in his Budget presentation in June that “every cent” of the $8 million provided for road construction in New Providence and $9 million for Bahamix (the Government’s road paving agency) will be used for restoration of the roads.

Minister Bannister described the roads as “abysmal” and falling apart everywhere.

“We have started the work by paving Farrington Road, Culberts Hill and portions of the Eastern Road and Tonique Darling Highway, but there is so much more for us to do, and we shall do it,” he added.

Road paving works continue on Madeira Street and Sixth Terrace from Mackey Street to Collins Avenue.
