This winter American is growing its presence in the Bahamas with additional year-round service to Nassau, adding a new route from Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) to New York-LaGuardia (LGA) as well as an additional weekly frequency to Charlotte (CLT).

Starting December 22, American will operate these two new Saturday-only flights with Airbus A319. This aircraft features eight seats in First Class, 24 seats in Main Cabin Extra with more legroom, and 96 seats in Main Cabin, in addition to more entertainment options and power outlets in every seat.

“As we continue growing our presence in the Caribbean we are proud to further strengthen our more than 30-year commitment to the Bahamas,” said Alfredo Gonzalez, American’s managing director for the Caribbean.

“This new service will provide our Bahamian customers with excellent connectivity to our New York and Charlotte hubs, and at the same time promote tourism to these beautiful islands.”

“New York City has always been a key market for The Bahamas, and we are thrilled to be able to offer New Yorkers even more options for visiting our islands with the new American Airlines service from La Guardia,” said Dionisio D’Aguilar, Minister of Tourism and Aviation for the Bahamas.

“The new service from New York, along with supplemental service from Charlotte, North Carolina are a testament to the strong demand from these markets and we hope to see continued growth from these two important cities.”

American has a strong presence in the Bahamas, operating more than 150 weekly flights to the country during peak season. Earlier this year American announced further growth in the Bahamas with new routes and additional frequencies.

These include new flights from Chicago to Nassau, from Charlotte to Eleuthera and to Marsh Harbour as well as an additional frequency between Miami and Freeport, all starting December 2018.
