Severe Weather Warning

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 5:15 PM until 7:15 PM WEDNESDAY 11TH JULY 2018.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning continues for ELEUTHERA, ABACO, THE BERRY ISLANDS, THE EXUMAS, AND CAT ISLAND AND THE ADJACENT WATERS OF THESE ISLANDS.

AT 5:10 PM OBSERVATIONS, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY CONTINUE TO DEPICT CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF BERYL MOVING ACROSS AND TOWARDS THE AFOREMENTIONED ISLANDS.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY. LOCALIZE FLOODING IS EXPECTED IN HEAVY DOWNPOURS.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
