Severe Weather Warning

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 3:30PM EDT UNTIL 5:30PM WEDNESDAY 13TH JUNE 2018.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR NORTH AND CENTRAL ANDROS, BERRY ISLANDS, NORTH AND CENTRAL ABACO AND THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.


AT 3:25PM LIGHTNING DETECTION, OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTED CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTHWARDS TOWARD AND ACROSS THE WARNING AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
