Severe Weather Warning Update

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from  1:45PM EDT UNTIL 2:45PM TUESDAY 12TH JUNE 2018.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN NOW IN EFFECT FOR ANDROS, NEW PROVIDENCE AND THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.


AT 1:43PM LIGHTNING DETECTION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTED A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING TOWARDS AND ACROSS THE WARNING AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
