Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 3:45PM until5:45PM TUESDAY, 15TH MAY, 2018.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE EXUMAS, CAT ISLAND THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 3:45PM RADAR, LIGHTNING DETECTOR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTED CLUSTERS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTHWARD, TOWARDS AND OVER THE MENTIONED ISLANDS.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE HEAVY TO SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG DAMAGING WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
