For a second consecutive year, The Bahamian Brewery and Beverage Company has joined forces with The Bahamas Golf Federation(BGF) for the annual Sands Beer Cup series of events which kicked off in Grand Bahama in March of this year.

The annual tournament has given golf enthusiasts from around the country the chance to show off their skills as they tee off on the country’s most prestigious courses to compete for major prizes as well as the sterling silver Sands floating trophy, currently held by last year’s winner, Eural Pratt.

Since launching in 2017 the tournament has become an excellent resource for local golfers looking to improve their skills and has cleared a path for interested players to advance to playing more competitive golf.

In fact, just one year later, registration numbers have almost doubled.

The next event in the series will be the Great Exuma Classic which will be held on June 23rd and will see golfers scored on a Modified Stapleford basis.

Each golfer will be required to play a minimum number of rounds, the golfer with the best total net Stapleford points will be declared the overall winner of the 2018 Sands Beer Cup.

As an avid golfer himself, Bahamian Brewery owner Jimmy Sands, swung at the chance to continue the Sands support of this ongoing event.

“We’re really excited to be a part of this event again” said Jimmy.

“Not only is this tournament a great opportunity for golfers to compete throughout the islands, but it’s a great opportunity to support the local golfing community, who have supported Sands from the very beginning.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to the tournament the Brewery recently presented a sizeable sponsorship cheque to BGF President, Lynford Miller, as the organization works to execute the remaining events in the yearlong series.

In the coming weeks and months, the tournament will make its way across the islands with events slated to take place at courses here in New Providence, Exuma and for the first time on the island of Abaco as well.

“We are extremely grateful to our members for their continued support” said Miller, “but we are equally grateful to our corporate partners like the Bahamian Brewery & Beverage Company who have committed to making the event a success and we’re looking forward to making this and future tournaments a great experience.”
