TWO suspects remain in hospital after being shot by Rapid Strike officers during separate police actions.

The first incident occurred on Thursday at 11.30pm, with the second around 2am on Friday - both following high-speed chases.

Operation Rapid Strike was launched by the police in mid-January as an effort to get a grip on the escalating number of serious crimes being committed in New Providence.

The effort, which sees heavily-armed units deployed to patrol "hot spot" areas, led to 14 arrests in its first 24 hours of operation earlier this year.
