Labour Minister announces 21 Local Companies to attend Grand Bahama's 'Labour On The Blocks Job Fair' this Saturday

The Minister of Labour, Senator the Hon. Dion A. Foulkes announced in the Senate today that the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Labour will launch their first ever ‘Labour on The Blocks Job Fair’ for Freeport, Grand Bahama on that island on this Saturday, 17 February, 2018 at 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Susan J. Wallace Park (formerly known as Columbus Park) on Columbus Drive and Nansen Avenue.

Minister Foulkes announced that some 21 local companies on Grand Bahama will be in attendance and he invited all job seekers on Grand Bahama to attend the Job Fair.

Some of the local companies announced by Senator Foulkes included BTC, Aliv, Atlantis, Baha Mar, Freeport Shipping Services, Clear Blue, Polymers, Stat Oil, Dolly Madison, Pelican Bay Hotel, the Freeport Container Port and many more companies.

Minister Foulkes encouraged all job seekers on the island of Grand Bahama to attend this major event and to bring some form of identification with them, either a passport, National Insurance Card or voters card. Job Seekers were also encouraged to bring an e-mail address. Minister Foulkes noted that persons who do not have an e-mail address can still attend the event as the Ministry and Department of Labour officers will create one for them.

Minister Foulkes commented, “So far the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Labour have held two successful Labour on the Blocks Job Fairs and I am pleased to report that over 800 individuals have been employed, some of whom have been employed right on the spot.”

Minister Foulkes noted that there is a strong possibility that job seekers attending this Saturday’s Labour On The Blocks Job Fair might leave with a job.

The Labour on The Blocks Job Fair is designed to connect job seekers with employers by utilizing community parks to register job seekers in the Department of Labour’s data base.
