Heart Foundation accepting Nominations for Golden Heart Award

The prestigious 54th Annual Heart Ball takes place at the Meliả Nassau Beach Hotel on Saturday, February 17th at 7:15PM . The Ball, designed to aid the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation has been an outstanding staple in society’s charity events since 1964.

The Foundation was created in 1961 by Lady Sassoon following the death of her husband, Sir Victor Sassoon, Bart GBE. It was founded to assist Bahamians with Heart Disease. To date it has helped thousands of Bahamian children with heart concerns. Often providing life saving surgery so that our children can lead full and rewarding lives.

As per norm, the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation and The Heart Ball Committee are accepting nominations for the 50th Lady Sassoon Golden Heart Award. At the ball, this award will be presented to an individual who is recognized for community work, selflessness, and a promoter of human welfare and dignity, thus making life better for their fellow man.

The public can submit nominations accompanied by a letter or statement explaining why the person recommended should receive the award. Nominations are to be submitted by Friday, February 2nd.

The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation is one of the most respected charitable organizations in the Bahamas. This privately funded charity raises funds primarily through donations and from the Annual Heart Ball, which is held each February.

Through the ongoing support of Lady Sassoon, almost all of the overhead costs of the Foundation are donated. Over 97 cents from each dollar raised goes directly to the aid of the children.

R.E. Barnes, chairman of Sassoon Heart Foundation says, “We urge everyone to get their tickets early and prepare themselves for a fantastic evening. The Heart Ball Committee has once again outdone itself in the planning this ball.

Everyone will enjoy a fun evening filled with music from the Soulful Groovers Band, The Ed Brice Orchestra, The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Dance Band and Gary ‘Super’ Johnson. The Room Raffle and Silent Auction, great food and friends getting together to support a charity to help our children in need.

“Even though the ball is there for fun and socializing, we need to realize that from this event, we all can assist children with heart disease. This is all for a very good cause and I encourage all who are considering attending the ball to get their tickets soon, to ensure themselves of the best table possible” said Mr. Barnes.
