In keeping with the mandate of The Government to see that The Bahamian Public not only comes first but is protected with the safe delivery of healthcare, Hon. Dr. Duane Sands, Minister of Health, met with members of the Pharmaceutical industry in The Bahamas today to discuss matters of concern.

The discussion included issues regarding narcotics and other controlled substances, parallel and/or gray market imports, generics and branded pharmaceuticals, as well as price control for specific drugs.

The Minister has made a commitment that the government will continue to work with the industry to see to it that there is strict adherence to the laws and guidelines established by the Pharmacy Act, The Price Control Act and The Consumer Protection Act, in the best interest and safety of the Bahamian Public.
