On Monday January 8, 2018 the Ministry of Labour in conjunction with the Department of Labour announced its 2018 Initiatives which included:

An Employers Job Fair which was held on January 8, 2018

“Labour on The Blocks” held January 13, 2018

On Saturday January 20, 2018 the third initiative will be held which will be a Construction Job Fair. This specialized Job fair will take place at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium from 12 noon to 4:00 pm. 

Over the past few months, Officials from the Department have observed an increase in the requests for non-Bahamian workers in the Construction Industry. These applications have raised very serious concerns due to the fact that thousands of Bahamians, with tremendous skills in the construction field, remained unemployed. 

The Construction Job Fair will allow the staff of the Public Employment Services Unit of the Department of Labour to register these unemployed skilled Bahamians in our newly upgraded database, while simultaneously exposing these trained, qualified and experienced workers with opportunities to be hired by over 25 construction companies that will be present at the Job Fair. 

The Department of Labour is very pleased to partner with the Bahamas Contractors Association to make this Job Fair a reality and we are confident that our combined efforts will make an impact in the unemployment statistics in the country.

We invite persons, male and female, who may have skills that are normally used in the construction industry and are unemployed, to attend the Job fair and possibly be hired on the spot.
