General Situation: A ridge of high pressure over the area will slide eastward as a stationary front and pre-frontal activity affects the Florida region. A cold front will move into the Bahamas late Friday with unsettled weather and windy conditions affecting the NW and Central Bahamas through early Sunday. The cold front will continue to move southeastward through the SE Bahamas with unsettled weather and windy conditions affecting the islands through late Monday or early Tuesday. A weak cold front will move into the NW Bahamas with little associated weather expected on Wednesday.
Friday 08th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with few scattered showers or widely scattered thunderstorms mainly in the NW and Central Bahamas during the day through night time. Maximum temperature 87°F and minimum temperature 72°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas with some areas below a caution for short period of times during the day. Winds S’ly at 15 to 20 knots across most of the NW Bahamas, but gusty at times and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots, but gusty at times across most of the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 7 feet over the entire Bahamas, but higher in gusts.
Saturday 09th – Partly to mostly cloudy, breezy to windy and mild with scattered showers and thunderstorms, some possibly heavy to severe at times mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 79°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Small craft should exercise caution over for all areas but an advisory will come into effect by late morning. Winds S to SW at 15 to 20 knots early in the NW Bahamas veering W to NW at 20 to 25 knots by early afternoon and SE to S at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, becoming SSE to SSW at 10 knots or less at times. Seas 4 to 6 feet over all areas at first but building to 6 to 9 feet across the NW Bahamas by early afternoon.
Sunday 10th – Partly to mostly cloudy, windy and mild with scattered showers and widely scattered thunderstorms mainly across the Central and SE Bahamas during the day. Continuing cloudy, windy and cool with lingering scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the SE Bahamas. Maximum temperature 72°F and minimum temperature 63°F. Small craft advisory is in effect for the Bahamas behind the front. Winds NW to N at 20 to 25 knots behind the front and variable at 10 knots or less ahead of the front. Seas 6 to 9 feet behind the front and 3 feet or less ahead of the front.
Monday 11th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and mild over most areas but windy with scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms across parts of the Central and SE Bahamas through night time. Maximum temperature 74°F and minimum temperature 65°F. Small craft advisory continues for parts of the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas and N to NE at 15 to 25 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas and 5 to 8 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.
Tuesday 12th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with few scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm near the SE Bahamas through nightfall. Maximum temperature 77°F and minimum temperature 69°F. Small craft advisory across the SE Bahamas early. Winds NE’ly at 10 to 15 knots across the NW and Central Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and N to NE at 15 to 25 knots across the SE Bahamas early, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots by early afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 feet across the NW and Central Bahamas and 5 to 8 feet across the SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet by afternoon.
Wednesday 13th – Partly cloudy to cloudy, mild and mainly dry conditions during the daytime. Partly cloudy and cool at night. Maximum temperature 76°F and minimum temperature 65°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the NW Bahamas. Winds W to NW at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and NW to N at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.
Beachgoers and Mariners should exercise caution due to high surf and the risk of rip currents along the northern and eastern shorelines during stated advisories. Boaters and beachgoers should be alert for possible waterspout activity and take all necessary precautions to protect life and property. Residents should be alert for the risk of localized flooding during heavy downpours and prolonged rainfall events.
