Iconic Seafood & Pizza Restaurant returns to the Port Lucaya Marketplace

Few businesses on Grand Bahama can boast the loyalty and longevity which Pisces Seafood Restaurant has enjoyed over the past three decades.

Since opening its doors in 1980, Pisces Restaurant has been a staple of the Grand Bahama restaurant scene, providing a superior dining experience for seafood lovers, curry fans and of course those late-night pizza runs!

Pisces first opened in the Lucayan Towers, where Chef George and his wife Rosaleen, became the well-known duo of Freeport dining and the late night stop off! They transitioned to the popular Port Lucaya location in 1994 where they have remained for the past 23 years. During this time, the duo added to their brand, opening the popular Neptune’s Nightclub and Kalypso restaurant. Following the devastation wrought by hurricane Matthew in October 2016 however, the owners of the iconic restaurant made the very difficult decision to close their doors after more than 37 years in the business.

“The entire island of Grand Bahama took a devastating blow at the hands of Matthew” explained Pisces owner Rosaleen Bailey “It’s been a very difficult time and as things have gotten progressively worse and with the closure of the Grand Lucayan we ultimately had to make the decision to close,” she said.

In the face of that decision, however, the restaurant owners were inundated by calls, and emails from Pisces’ loyal customers, all of whom begged for a reversal of the decision. “People would literally stop us in the street and beg us to reopen,” Rosaleen said.

“It was truly heartwarming to hear how loyal our customers are and how much of an impact we have had over the years and the memories we’ve shared – birthdays, engagements, graduations, you name it!”

In response to this, Pisces will return to the Port Lucaya Marketplace, in a brand-new location – dockside at Port Lucaya’s entertainment center. The space previously occupied by the restauranteurs Kalypso restaurant will now be home to the new and improved Pisces Restaurant which will feature two large outside bars and the return of George’s seafood curries, pasta dishes along with the island’s best pizza, while still featuring the new, fresh and bright Kalypso colours.

“When Pisces reopens, we want it to have a brand new, fun, upbeat and modern feel,” Rosaleen explained. “Chef George will make sure that all our customer favorites are on the menu along with some new items which we have received great feedback on from Kalypso guests.” Pisces will officially reopen its doors to the public on Thursday, November 23rd and all are invited to come down and join the celebrations. “George and his team are excited again,” said Rosaleen. “It’s been a hard year, and we apologize to our loyal customers for our closure over the last few months, but we love our new location, and we love Freeport and we know it will climb back to better times – as we all do!”
