Some said that Dr. The Hon. Hubert A. Minnis would never become Prime Minister. He not only accomplished that goal - against all odds - but he was awarded "Person of the year" last night at The Bahamas Press Club's annual awards dinner. 

Congratulations to a leader who rose from the bottom all the way to the top, through hard work, persistence, and perseverance! What a powerful example Dr. Minnis has been to the citizens of this great nation! Nothing is impossible to those who persevere! The Celebrity Artist, Jamaal Rolle, presents Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis with a portrait of himself at The Bahamas Press Club’s annual awards dinner on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at The British Colonial Hilton.

The Prime Minister was the recipient of the club’s Person of the Year award. Joan Albury, President of The Counsellors Ltd., was the recipient of The Pioneer Award, and veteran journalist Gladstone Thurston was the recipient of the Sir Etienne Dupuch Lifetime Achievement Award, among the host of other awards presented.
