Mario Smith, Family Island Manager at Bahamas Power and Light, is ready for this year’s MAN Users Group (MUG) Technical Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

MUG is a forum of independent member diesel generator power plants, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and other power industry representatives.

The group was formed to facilitate the exchange of technical information and proactive resolution of generic issues relating to the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of MAN Model 48/60 diesel engines.

The MUG Charter was signed in 2002 by seven original member plants from Central America and the Caribbean areas. Increased reliability and improved performance is the primary goal for The MUG.

In March 2011, BPL (formerly known as BEC) joined the membership due to the arrival of new power plants in Eleuthera, Bimini and the Wilson City Plant in Abaco. The Conference will take place October 16 – 20, 2017. Mr. Smith currently serves as Chairman for The MAN User’s Group.
