NEWS ITEM ON HURRICANE JOSE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6AM WEDNESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2017.

…JOSE MOVING SOUTHEASTWARD OVER THE SOUTHWEST ATLANTIC BETWEEN THE BAHAMAS AND BERMUDA...

AT 5AM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE JOSE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 26.1°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 66.0° WEST OR ABOUT 505 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEASTERN BAHAMAS AND ABOUT 435 MILES SOUTH OF BERMUDA.

JOSE IS MOVING TOWARD THE SOUTHEAST NEAR 8 MPH, BUT IS EXPECTED TO MAKE A CLOCKWISE LOOP DURING THE NEXT 36 TO 48 HOURS, MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD BY LATE THURSDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 75 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
