As Floridians continue to evacuate in droves and Bahamians prepare to assess damage in the days to come meteorologists worldwide are taking note of a seemingly angry Atlantic Basin. For the first time in 7 years we had 3 active hurricanes, Irma, Jose; and Katia. In 2010 it was Igor, Julia and Karl.

Like Irma, Hurricane Igor was a killer storm taking four lives and affecting areas as far north as Newfoundland, Canada. Like Igor, Hurricane Irma will likely join the list of retired names out of respect for the sheer destruction and those affected.
