Bank of The Bahamas recently announced sponsorship support for a number of youth programmes that are helping to keep young people occupied, engaged and off the streets this summer.

According to bank officials BOB is partnering with proven organizations to help impact approximately 8,000 young people across The Bahamas.

Byron Miller, Senior Manager for Business Development, BOB said while the summer months can be a time of fun and learning for young people, they also present an opportunity for youth to get into trouble in the absence of supervision and structured activities.

“This is why BOB has made it a priority each summer to provide assistance to a number of carefully selected, proven programmes that offer supervision, coaching and positive activities in a safe learning environment,” Mr. Miller said.

BOB’s 2017 summer youth sponsorships include The Royal Bahamas Police Force Youth Camps that this year have 6,800 youth enrolled, the Kevin Johnson Basketball Camp with an enrollment of 200 children, the 24th annual Bain Town Summer Youth Programme, The Ranfurly Home For Children, The Children’s Emergency Hostel, Youth Against Violence’s Peace on The Streets Basketball Classic and the Z-bandits Junkanoo Group’s Summer Youth Outreach Trade Camp.

Additionally, BOB is helping to send the Bahamas National Women’s Volleyball Team to represent the country in Kingston, Jamaica this July and providing support to the T.G. Glover School’s Junior Junkanoo Group.

“We believe that the development and protection of our youth is much too important to neglect. Through these partnerships we are demonstrating that we feel the burden of parents. We care about what matters most to you and we will do our part to help keep our children positively engaged, off the streets, and on the right path this summer,” Mr. Miller said.
