June: Men's Health Month

As we approach Father's Day we must be reminded that the entire month of June is dedicated to men's health. Statistics show women are 100% more likely to go to the doctor for annual exams and preventative services making awareness and prevention key in helping our fathers, brothers, boyfriends, husbands, and sons live longer healthier lives.

Here are some quick facts:

  • Men live shorter lives with a lower average quality of life than women
  • More than 6 million men in the US are depressed
  • In the US, 450,000 men die of cardiovascular disease each year
  • More than 700,000 men are diagnosed with cancer in the US each year, and 300,000 men die of it
  • 92% of workplace deaths are male
  • Testicular cancer is most common in men ages 15-35 and is 100% curable when detected and treated early
  • Men ages 15-44 are 56% less likely to visit the doctor for any reason
