While the top-seeded player in singles got ousted in the first round, the first three seeds in doubles all advanced to the second round in the inaugural Bahamas Open Women's Tennis Tournament.

Day two of the main draw yesterday saw world No.14 ranked player Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic sent packing 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 by Germany's Kristin Barrois.

"At the beginning, I lost the first set. She was playing very good," said Barrois, a No. 79 ranked player in the world after her victory. "In the second set, it was much better for me. I played with a lot more risk going to the net. But it was a close match and ...
