Alfred Sears announces he will not stand in upcoming general election

THE future of political candidates was called into question yesterday as Fort Charlotte MP Alfred Sears announced he will not stand in the upcoming general election.

Mr Sears, who has held the seat since 2002 told the press he will withdraw from politics at the end of this term for personal reasons.

The MP, who served as Attorney General and Minister of Education under the Christie administration, did not give any indication of who he would like to fill his vacant seat.

PLP chairman Bradley Roberts told The Tribune yesterday Mr Sears will be sadly missed.
