The Management and Staff of Furniture Plus recently collaborated with customers to make a special presentation to the Bahamas Crisis Center, as a part of their “Bring Love Home” campaign. Together, they gifted the center with a hefty delivery of beautifully crafted packages, filled with essential personal care items to be shared with those seeking refuge.

“Providing even the smallest ray of hope for victims of abuse can go such a long way. Each of the various care packs contain basic hygiene items, plus special baby packages with assorted items including pampers, diaper cream and baby wipes. By providing the necessities, we hope those seeking refuge can focus on healing, with one less worry. This was the most practical, yet thoughtful way we chose to help,” explains Krystynia Lee d’Arville, V.P. of Sales, Marketing and Organizational Development at Furniture Plus.

Dr. Sandra Dean-Patterson, and her colleagues founded the Crisis Center in 1982. It was initially created to address the increasing need to provide intervention and preventative treatment and advocacy to women and children who were victims of domestic, and or sexual abuse. The Center has since expanded to also address issues affecting men and all victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

Mrs. Lee D’Arville appeared on the popular talk show, “Real Talk Reloaded,” along with Phillipa Farrington a volunteer Therapist at the Crisis Center. Ms. D’Arville saluted the selfless work of the entire staff of the Center. On hearing of the Center’s need for a Fridge, Mrs. Lee d’Arville immediately pledged to provide one courtesy of Furniture Plus and it’s charity arm; “The Charity Of Hope Foundation.” She compelled other corporate citizens to also lend their support.

Categorizing the 1,100 sessions recorded at the Center for 2015, Ms. Farrington established Family Issues, Domestic Violence and Molestation as the majority of cases. She pointed to the Center’s immediate need for a Van to collect and transport victims who lack transportation, and welcomed donations of non-perishable, easy to prepare meals such as soups, and noodles, which are served to displaced individuals.

This project is the second of six new “give-back” campaigns planned by Furniture Plus and The Charity Of Hope Foundation for 2017. Each campaign is targeted to support the work of local community heroes, uplift demoralized women and children, and foster love within our community. Customers of Furniture Plus are also able to use their purchasing power in support of these projects.

Furniture Plus continues to champion causes close to home while finding innovative ways to add value to customers, and the community which it serves.
