New Birth Church members prepare to do good deeds

The New Birth Church membership is once again gearing up to do good deeds on Good Friday, during the church's Easter Resurrection Weekend.
On the day that Christians commemorate Jesus Christ's crucifixion, New Birth Church pastor, Bruce Davis, encourages people to participate in the outreach mission and do a good deed for someone who can't return the favor.
During their Good Deeds on Good Friday event on April 14 at the R.M. Bailey Park from noon to 4 p.m., they will be giving away clothes, shoes for all ages and sizes, and grocery items during what they have dubbed their mega giveback. Hair care, dental checks, car engine checks and medical tests will also take place on the day for those people needing that assistance, as Pastor Bruce, Sheniqua Davis and his membership seek to give back.
"Jesus said it's more blessed to give than to receive, so Good Deeds on Good Friday is about experiencing the blessing of giving to someone else," said Davis. "It's not about Bruce Davis or New Birth Church. This event is not a church event, or just for church people who say they're going to give and go and give someone some shoes or clothes because they're a Christian. Everybody in this city knows that God is real, and that God is good, and that they may not have everything they want, but what they have, God gave it to them. And so the premise behind this is that we want persons in the church, out the church; from the club to the pulpit, we want people to give something back," he said.
New Birth Church will also take its good deeds beyond just the one day with a mega gas giveback scheduled for August 15 at the Rubis Service Station on Prince Charles, between noon and 2 p.m.
The ministry's children through their BIG Heart Kids Club will also get involved this year with their own giveback, scheduled for April 16 between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., at the church on Robinson Road. This event will feature all the fun things children like to engage in; from bouncing castles, to face painting and interacting with popular animated characters Dora and Diego, and the Minions. Kid friendly food and drink will also be available.
Good Deeds on Good Friday is an event the church first established in 2015. It's an event that he stressed is not church-related, and that people do not have to be members of New Birth Church, or any church for that matter, to participate.
The pastor said the membership at his church is able to stage events like Good Deeds on Good Friday because of its partners and members.
New Birth Church is a member of the Assemblies of God in The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Fellowship.
