GENERAL SITUATION: High pressure ridge over the Bahamas will retreat eastward as a cold front moves south-eastward across the NW Bahamas late Thursday or early Friday. A large high pressure system over the Eastern United States will build across the Bahamas as the cold front exits the islands late Friday or early Saturday.

Thursday 09th – Mostly sunny and warm during the day but fair and mild at night except for cloudy periods with few scattered showers or possible thunderstorms in the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 87°F and minimum temperature 68F. Small craft advisory over the NW Bahamas by late afternoon. Winds S to SW at 10 to 15 knots today but increasing to 15 to 25 knots by late afternoon in the NW Bahamas and variable at 10 knots or less for Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet building to 4 to 7 feet in the NW Bahamas later and 1 to 3 feet over the ocean for the Central and SE Bahamas.

Friday 10th – Partly cloudy to fair skies and windy with few scattered showers in vicinity of the front during the day. Mostly fair and windy at night with the chance of showers near the front. Maximum temperature 77F and minimum temperature 64°F. Small craft an advisory for all areas behind the front and a caution ahead of the front. Winds N to NE at 15 to 25 knots behind the front and N to NE at 15 to 20 knots ahead of the front. Seas 5 to 8 feet behind the front and 4 to 6 feet ahead of the front over the ocean.

Saturday 11th – Partly to mostly sunny, windy and mild behind the front but cloudy periods and windy with few scattered showers along and ahead of the front. Maximum temperature 76°F and minimum temperature 66°F. Small craft advisory in the SE Bahamas and a caution for the Central Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 12 to 18 knots in the NW Bahamas, NE to E at 15 to 20 knots in the Central Bahamas and NE to E at 20 to 25 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 3 to 5 feet across the NW Bahamas, 4 to 6 in the Central Bahamas and 6 to 9 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Sunday 12th – Partly to mostly sunny and warm with the chance of passing showers during the day. Mostly fair, breezy and mild at night with few lingering showers likely. Maximum temperature 78°F and minimum temperature 67°F. Small craft caution for the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas and NE to E at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the NW Bahamas, and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Monday 13th – Partly cloudy and warm with the chance of isolated showers in the day through night time. Max temperature 77F and minimum temperature 67F. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas and NE to E at 12 to 18 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas and 3 to 5 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 14th – Partly to mostly sunny and warm with the chance of few passing showers. Fair and mild at night. Max temperature 80F and minimum temperature 66F. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots, but falling light and variable at times for all areas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the ocean for all areas.

Wednesday 15th – Partly sunny and warm with the chance of passing showers. Partly cloudy with few scattered showers likely at night. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 67°F. Winds SE to S at 10 to 15 knots across the entire Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the entire Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should exercise extreme caution due to the high risk of rip currents and rough surf, especially along the northern and eastern shorelines during stated advisories. Winds and seas will be higher in heavy showers and thunderstorms.
