With Day 2 under way, registration has closed in the $100,000 Super High Roller The opening event of the inaugural PokerStars Championship Bahamas attracted 41 unique players, and another 13 re-entries were tallied to bring the total field to 54 entries. That generates a prize pool worth $5,239,080, which will be shared by the final seven players like so:

Defending champion Bryn Kenney entered the field today, along with Anton Astapau, who finished as the runner-up in yesterday's $1k Turbo Single Re-Entry.

In addition to that big restart, Saturday's busy schedule also features 11 new events.

Headlining the list is the PokerStars National Championship, which kicked off at 11:00 local time this morning. The $2,200 event will be run across the next three days, featuring 45-minute levels and unlimited re-entries during the registration period.

As of the time of writing, 219 players had already entered the field, including Team PokerStars Pros Chris Moneymaker, Victor Ramdin, Andre Akkari, Felipe Ramos, and Celina Lin. Also in the mix are a pair of men who've won previously Main Events in this building, Harrison Gimbel (2010) and John Dibella (2012). A full list of players will be released once registration closes this evening, and Day 1 will conclude at the end of Level 15.

SIX EVENTS ADDED TO THE PACKED SCHEDULE

There were 92 events originally scheduled for the inaugural PokerStars Championship Bahamas, but yesterday saw six additional events being added on tap. They're all high buy-in tournaments, set to be played with a turbo structure. First of the additional events will kick off today at 4pm as the Event #93 - $25,500 NL Single Re-Entry gets under way. Some of the casualties from the $100k Super High Roller can be expected to join the field. Please see below for more details on the impromtu events.

ROMERO TOPS NEUVILLE AND BUSQUET IN THE $3K WIN THE BUTTON EVENT

The first day of the PokerStars Championship Bahamas saw a host of side events kick off the action at Atlantis Resort, along with the high-profile $100k Super High Roller. Seven winners collected trophies yesterday, seizing gold on the new tour's opening day.

James Romero was Friday's top earner, earning $28,100 for outlasting the field of 28 players in the $3k NL Hold'em Win the Button. The 27-year-old from Portland is fresh off a huge victory at WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, where he topped a 791-entry field for a giant payday of $1,938,118. Barely a month later, he's earned his first PokerStars title here in the Bahamas. Romero faced some tough competition at the final table, including former November Niner Pierre Neuville and heads-up specialist Olivier Busquet, who finished second and third, respectively.

TODAY'S ACTION AT POKERSTARS CHAMPIONSHIP BAHAMAS

More trophies will find their owners today as there is a pile of side events running Saturday at PokerStars Championship Bahamas, along with the aformentioned Day 2 of the $100k Super High Roller and Day 1 of the PokerStars National Championship.

The $3k PL Omaha Turbo kicked off at noon, while other events on today's schedule include the $10,000 Survivor, $3k NL Hold'em Win the Button, a couple of Flipouts, and the 10pm $2k NL Hyper Turbo, which wraps up the day.

NINE DAYS OF ACTION

PokerStars Championship Bahamas, which runs from today until January 14 at the sun-drenched Atlantis Resort in Nassau, is the first event of the all new PokerStars Championship tour. Poker players from around the world have been qualifying for as little as $10 at PokerStars.com. The ever popular PokerStars TV broadcast returns to the Bahamas with a five-day filming schedule. The stream will air daily from January 10, broadcasting the action from the PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event from Day 2 all the way through to the cards-up finale. The broadcast will be available in a wide number of languages, on desktop and mobile on PokerStars.tv, YouTube, Facebook and Twitch. HOST OF #STARSFUN ACTIVITIES AWAY FROM POKER TABLES

Along with the immense poker action, the players and visitors can choose from a host of activities away from the tables, provided by #StarsFun. Taking place at the event are NFL Play-offs tailgate & squares competitions for great prizes (Jan 7-8) as well as virtual reality gaming stations with a chance to win daily prizes and a special basketball 3-on-3 competition on the Atlantis courts, awarding members of the winning team with a $1,000 tournament credit apiece.
