A man died and four others were injured on Boxing Day morning when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle they were in.
Police said they had left a nightclub and were on Tonique Williams Darling Highway around 3 a.m. when a white vehicle pulled alongside them and occupants fired inside their vehicle. Three women and two men were in the car that was shot at, according to police.
Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander refuted rumors that two of the female passengers were underage.
Fernander said police were investigating reports that the shooting stemmed from an argument at the nightclub over a seat.
But he said, "We don't have a motive. We are hearing the same thing that you are hearing.
"But it is a line of inquiry that we are following to either rule it out, or move forward with that but we are hearing that as well."
Police had not taken anyone into custody in relation to the matter.
The identity of the deceased was not revealed.
In an unrelated incident, a male was found shot to death at Millennium Gardens off Bethel Avenue last night. Few details were available up to press time.
