The Grand Bahama Christian Council is calling the Island of Grand Bahama to come together for a Thanksgiving Service at the Central Church of God, Coral Road on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. simply to say ‘Thank you’ to God.

During a press conference held by the Grand Bahama Christian Council (GBCC) at Calvary Temple on Friday afternoon, Rev. Peter Pinder, president of the GBCC said the organization is fully aware of the devastation that took place on Grand Bahama, during Hurricane Matthew and the whole island must say a huge thank you to God for His presence among us.

“So many persons have contributed to our recovery and we are grateful to them, but we are especially grateful to God for His divine protection. As a result we are inviting the Grand Bahama community to join us in a service of Thanksgiving to God for His goodness and for His divine presence among us,” Rev. Pinder stated.

Rev. Robert Lockhart, First Vice President and Chairman of the Committee formed to plan the service slated for Tuesday evening at the Central Church of God said, “It is such a pleasure to be able to call the whole Grand Bahama community together for a time of Thanksgiving.

“We are calling all pastors, churches and the community at large to come together in a time of Thanksgiving to God in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. It is a time to give thanks.”

Lockhart added that government agencies, especially the uniformed branches, the Ministry of Grand Bahama and the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) have been contacted as well as all of the churches to be a part of this Thanksgiving Service.

“During the service, which will be led by pastor Cedric Beckles, GBCC’s treasurer and Apostle Anthony Grant will be sharing a word, as will Minister for Grand Bahama Dr. Michael Darville; GBPA president Ian Rolle and Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour.

“Additionally, the Grand Bahama Mass Choir will entertain us,” Rev. Lockhart shared.

“It is important that we all recognize fellow Bahamians that have been so highly affected by the storm, but also realize that in spite of it all we have a lot to be thankful for – as we continue to look to God and as we continue to restore this island, which we believe is taking place and will continue to take place,” Rev. Lockhart added.

In concluding, the Thanksgiving Service Committee Chairman said the focus of Tuesday evening’s Thanksgiving Service is to bring everyone together as a community to give God thanks.
