Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) will host an Open House & Campus Tour at its campus in Lyford Cay on Saturday 19 November 2pm-4pm. There will be an Admissions and Scholarship presentation from 2pm to 3pm, and parents will be able to tour the campus of the school from 3pm to 4pm. Attending the Open House is a great opportunity for prospective parents and students to learn more about the curriculum and programmes at LCIS, as well as meet members of the school’s Administration, current parents, teachers and students.

This year, LCIS has expanded its Scholarship Programme to include Named Scholarships. These scholarships will be awarded to Bahamian students who display outstanding ability in academics, arts, technology, community service, languages, Junkanoo, sports and other areas. LCIS Admissions Director, Mrs. Rose-Marie Taylor shares her excitement for these new opportunities, stating, “This financial assistance will enable even more Bahamian students to gain a high-quality international education at every stage in their development, and to matriculate into some of the best universities in the world upon graduation.”

The benefits of an LCIS education can be seen most clearly through the school’s graduates who annually are accepted to their first-choice universities and, to date, work or study in 24 countries on 6 continents around the world. Still, the success of these graduates is rooted in the full International Baccalaureate Programme which is available at LCIS for learners as young as age 3, starting in Junior Pre-Kindergarten.

Eronjha Adderley, a Bahamian graduate from the Class of 2008, shares his experience after completing the rigorous IB Diploma Programme at LCIS: “An LCIS education is without a doubt an optimal start on the journey through life, with more doors opening with every other step. After graduating from LCIS, I completed four years of study in Glasgow, Scotland, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Finance, Investment and Risk Management. Then, I completed an MSc in Financial Communication at the University of Lugano, Switzerland. Recently, I started working at Julius Baer here in Nassau. The IB programme at LCIS raised my expectations of what life could be like after high school and forced me to exceed limits and aim high.”

As LCIS moves closer to the construction of a new Upper School campus, many more opportunities will be made available for Bahamian students to be a part of a vibrant community of learners and educators from around the world. The school plans to invest a further $1.5 million into its financial-aid and scholarship endowment in order to ensure a diverse learning environment for all students.

Founded in 1962, Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) is a fully accredited international day school located in western New Providence offering an educational programme that aims to inspire, challenge and transform students. LCIS is the only school in The Bahamas to offer three International Baccalaureate programmes, the PYP, MYP and DP. Upon graduation, LCIS students move on to top colleges and universities around the world, with 100% of students being accepted to their first-choice school. Visit: www.lcis.bs.
