'Don't drink the water'

RESIDENTS living near the aging waste and water treatment plant at Pigeon Plum Street are "strongly" advised not to drink water from private well supplies.

As water supplies from private wells is drawn directly from the ground in the area, a statement released by the Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) urged persons to use city water supply for their water needs.

Robert Deal Jr, assistant general manager at WSC, explained that the city water supply would come from one of the desalination plants and is properly treated to meet standards for potable water use, such as drinking or cooking.
