REV has partnered with Nassau-based charity BreAnn's Care Closet to help make this back-to-school season more manageable for families in Acklins. For its part, the telecommunications company made a generous donation to BreAnn's Care Closet to purchase uniforms for students on the island.

"We know that the back-to-school period can be stressful for many parents, and even more so for families in Acklins who are still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Joaquin," REV Marketing Manager Melissa Baker said. "It was especially important for us to assist in this effort."

REV became involved in the Acklins mission following a request from BreAnn's Care Closet, which informed the company of the need for uniforms on the island. Ms Baker said REV was more than happy to fulfill the organisation's uniform request.

"REV takes seriously its call to corporate responsibility," Ms Baker said. "We are firmly committed to investing in our communities, and our youth in particular. So, we were more than willing to make a contribution to this important cause."

BreAnn's Care Closet Director Chandra Ferguson said REV's contribution made it possible for the organisation to provide new uniform sets for 75 children in Acklins.

"Corporate sponsors are really the backbone for our uniform grant programme," Ms. Ferguson said. "Without them, we really could not do it. Their input and their willingness to give back to the community are integral to programmes like this being successful."

Founded by BreAnn Ferguson, BreAnn's Care Closet hosts uniform drives year-round to provide new and gently-used uniforms to students across The Bahamas whose parents have experienced hardships or tragedy.

"We're excited for these opportunities to assist her peers," Ms. Ferguson said, adding that she is proud of what her eight-year-old daughter has achieved since starting the programme in 2015. "This proves to people that children can help in the community and make a difference in the country."

BreAnn's Care Closet volunteers traveled to Acklins on Wednesday, August 31 to personally present students with the new uniforms.
