Bail application postponed for men on murder conspiracy charge

The bail applications of two men accused of involvement in a conspiracy to murder were postponed yesterday at the request of the prosecution.

Ian "Irie" Porter, 45, of Star Estates, and Ramon "Razor" Sweeting, 38, of Coral Harbour, have been in custody for less than two weeks. Supreme Court Justice Cheryl Grant-Bethell was scheduled to hear Porter's application and Senior Supreme Court Justice Stephen Isaacs was set to hear Sweeting's application.

Porter and Sweeting return to court next week. They are both represented by attorney Jomo Campbell. They are accused of conspiring to murder Oneil Marshall, a prospective witness in the abetment to murder trial of Stephen "Die" Stubbs and Giovanni Roberts. Marshall had been placed in protective custody, but he reportedly left the program.

It is unclear if his murder was connected to his proposed testimony.

Marshall's bullet-riddled body was found in a car in the parking lot of the abandoned building that once housed City Meat Market on Market Street around 1 a.m. on May 1. Jamaric Green, 30, and Caryn Moss, 25, have also been charged in connection with the alleged murder conspiracy. Police have not charged anyone with Marshall's murder.
